These are targeted exam questions taken from UK exam boards that test content from the examination specification. They are specially designed to incorporate a shed load of practice in singular key areas until you have mastered the topic. You will find the mark schemes to the answers at the end of each document. I am currently in the process of building this so it will be populated throughout the year. From time to time I have interleaved other content areas too.

Students should pick out questions in selected topic areas and see if they can answer it successfully. If you give incorrect responses ask yourself why and be able to correct it. Please note these as feedback. This is not a tick or cross exercise. Learning from mistakes is essential practice. Do a handful of questions and move onto the next topic. Retest yourself as retrieval practice at a later scheduled time. Try and get into the practice of testing yourself on the content periodically to ensure you are not forgetting the material.

If you are using these in the classroom, research suggests that blocked practice is less effective than interleaving exam questions in gauging student understanding. What I mean by this is to be ready to merge different but similar topics together. This could be for example, ionic and covalent bonding questions together as opposed to only using covalent bonding questions. You have a real sense of whether they are learning through rote methods or using their analytical skills to answer questions thoughtfully.

It could work well at the end of a scheme of learning or be used as independent study. Do as you see fit.

Teachers can also use it as feedback practice. If you find a class majority has answered a particular concept poorly then you can pick similar questions and test them on it again as well as similar practice Qs.
